I was standing in front of the $800,000 house that the owner was willing to sell for $650,000, and my intuition was telling me to walk away. On the other hand, my two potential business partners are touting the benefits of the deal. They envisioned a $90K profit to be split 3 ways. Barry who had been in the real estate business for over 25 years and knew the neighborhood well, said we couldn’t go wrong. Ryan, a water heater repair specialist agreed wholeheartedly. I was a real estate rube, but it was me who brought the property to the table in the first place.

Personal Intuition and a Rite of Passage

Hunting season is coming up in a couple of months and my 13-year-old nephew, Robbie is not sure what he’s going to say in response to his father’s annual invitation. Every year “the boys” take a week off from being a professional roofing contractor Fayetteville NC and head into the back woods for a week or so to bag a deer. My brother, his father has been doing this since he was a kid of about the same age as Robbie. Robbie shot and killed his first buck last year. His father and the other guys gave him huge kudos and made a big deal. From all outside appearances Robbie looked very pleased with himself. He was pumped up at how proud he made his father feel.

The Brain and Intuition

Personal intuition comes in many forms. Some hear a voice in their head and others are cued through the sights around them. The trick is to pay attention. When you are seeking answers the Universe will bend over backwards to guide you. It’s up to you to read the signs and that’s where personal intuition comes in. Stories abound of people who say “if only I had followed my gut”. It happens to us all at some time in our lives. Like the time I wanted to start my own business tree trimming Kansas City MO or the time we approach that beautiful girl/guy who seems to have a magic spell over us. It’s not always easy to pick-up on the guidance with what feels like traveling cranes wheeling back forth, dumping indiscriminate pieces of information into our mind all day long.

Building Your Intuition

Intuition is a very personal thing.  What is it exactly? “Intuition, a phenomenon of the mind, describes the ability to acquire knowledge without inference or the use of reason.” Science can’t put the activity of intuition through the rigors of test tubes and lab slabs so labeling it as ‘phenomenon’ allows it to exist within accepted parameters. Delving into the workings of the mind would take a behavioral science to fully explain what we all know as personal intuition.
